Wii Dvd
Play Movies on Your Wii DVD Playback
Luckily for us however, some pretty smart people were able to come up with a way that you could play DVD on the Wii. Something that the Wii does not initially support is playback of DVD discs, but there is now a way to turn your Wii into a DVD player and replace one more box in that home entertainment system of yours. Now however you can play DVD on the Wii without the need of a mod chip.
There are only four things you need to do to turn your Wii into a DVD playing machine. So if this breaks your Wii you’ll be out of luck.
First, install the Wii Homebrew Channel onto your Wii using the Twilight Princess hack. This is a relatively straight forward task. Do a simple search on Google and those steps are readily available.
Second, once the Homebrew Channel is installed, depending on which method you use, install MPlayer. This is a small media player that will let you run the DVD disc like a normal DVD player and can be found the same place as the Homebrew Channel.
Third, find and install the DvdX loader program. This file slightly modifies your system to enable DVD playback. From here you need to install a small application call Mplayer, this will allow your Wii to act like a standard DVD player.
Fourth, once everything is installed, fire up the Homebrew channel and start MPlayer. You’ll see a simple menu that lets you choose the DVD and then operate the disc just like you would on a normal DVD player.
Having completed the four steps it is time for you to enjoy your new ability to play movies on Wii!
